# Impersonation (View As)

> Temporarily view PayPunch as one of your client users to troubleshoot and support them.

**Impersonation** — *"view as"* — lets you experience PayPunch exactly as one of
your client company users sees it. It's the fastest way to reproduce a problem a
client reports or to confirm a change looks right from their side.

## Start viewing as a user

<Steps>
  <Step title="Pick a user">
    Browse the users you can impersonate. You can filter by **company** and
    **search** by name or email.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start the session">
    Start impersonating the selected user. PayPunch switches your view to that
    user's account and takes you to their dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Work as that user">
    Navigate as the client would. A session indicator shows you're impersonating,
    along with how much time remains.
  </Step>

  <Step title="End the session">
    End impersonation to return to your own admin account.
  </Step>

## Good to know

* An impersonation session is **time-limited** and ends automatically; you can
  always end it manually.
* You **can't start a new impersonation while already impersonating** — end the
  current session first.
* You can check the current impersonation **status** at any time to confirm who
  you're viewing as and how long is left.

  Impersonation shows you a client's real data. Use it only for legitimate support
  and troubleshooting, and end the session as soon as you're done.
